Whiskey shots, anyone?

Whiskey shot glass

No, this is not the infamous Varinthip whiskey, but something of a much better quality. Of course, that would include just about every other whiskey you’ve ever encountered. Besides the fact that it’s whiskey (Whiskey is very common around here and by far the liquor of choice in Asia), I thought the ice cube shot glasses were more interesting. An interesting concept and I’m sure somebody out there has already patented ice cube trays that create frozen shot glasses. What a nice start to Halloween night.

Is this technically a whiskey? Is it not like Sangsom were it’s a rum?

If you are talking about the Varinthip, I have no idea. I’m pretty sure Varinthip is not an actual whiskey, per se, but it’s difficult to tell what it is (at least for me since I don’t have much liquor experience). It may be a rum like Sangsom, although of a significantly lower quality….and that’s saying a lot. At least it’s still a notch above the lao kao [rice "wine"] many of the rural folk are so fond of. I believe the whiskey in the photo here was Black Label.
